NZ 11 NE BARFORTH BARFORTH HALL

4/8 Garden walls to
west of Barforth
Hall

GV II


Garden walls, probably late C17. Coursed rubble with cut dressings and remains
of flat slab coping. North wall 2.5 metres high, links at east end to altered
garage block adjacent to Hall; on inner face at end an old pent privy with
flush-panelled door; at west end coping is stepped up. Lower west wall running
along crest of slope has central boarded door in chamfered surround with flat-
pointed head within square frame. South wall has boarded door to sheds on
external face.

Garage block, range of sheds on south of south wall and lower curving wall at
east end of south wall are not of interest.
