15/43 The Milbank Arms



Inn, probably early C19. Squared stone with tooled-and-margined lintels,
sills and door surround; graduated Lakeland slate roof. 2 storeys, 5 bays,
symmetrical. Central flush-panelled door with plain overlight, in raised
stone surround; 16-pane sash windows. Above and to left of door is an old
signboard with painted arms and the motto 'Resolute and Firm'. Stepped-and-
banded end and ridge stacks.

Rear elevation shows outshut with arched stair window, holding 16-pane sash
with intersecting glazing bars at head, and 1st floor 12-pane Yorkshire sash.
