to Startforth Lodge

GV II


Garden walls, railings and gate, probably 1853. Squared rubble with cut
dressings; wrought iron. Low wall with chamfered coping, on south and east
of garden, supports railings with spearhead standards, except on north part
of east side. Wrought-iron scroll-topped gate on south with monolith arched
piers. Taller west wall, with stepped flat coping, joins south-west corner
of house.

Greenhouse on outer face of west wall is not of special interest.
