NZ 11 SW WYCLIFFE WITH THORPE WYCLIFFE

7/202 The Nest

GV II


House, probably built as verger's cottage, dated 1779 on door lintel. Coursed
rubble with roughly-tooled quoins and cut dressings. Early C20 red tile roof
with stone slates to eaves; brick stacks, the left partly rebuilt. Left part
has late C20 pantiles with similar eaves. Central 4-panel door, with 3-pane
overlight, flanked by renewed 12-pane sashes; 9-pane casements above. All
openings with lintels tooled to represent voussoirs; and slightly-projecting
sills. Ridge gable coping; end stacks. Lower left bay has two 12-pane
casements with a 16-pane casement above.

Interior: 2-panel doors have panels with clipped corners, framed by raised
beading. Parlour fireplace has wood surround with carved ornament and cupboard
alongside with doors on axe-head hinges.
