NZ 11 SW WYCLIFFE WITH THORPE WYCLIFFE

West House

GV II


House, formerly a wing of the Rectory. Probably early C18. Rubble, largely
river cobbles; right return rendered and colour-washed; stone slate roof.
West elevation 2 storeys on basement, 4 bays; 4-pane casements and 4-pane sash
to ground floor, and four 12-pane sashes above. At far right, a garderobe
projection with small 1st-floor window and exit chute near foot of wall.
Coped left gable with small end stack; roof hip-ended to right. Right return
shows two 4-pane sashes on each floor; garderobe projection on left has
renewed door.

Entrance through garderobe turret is an unusual vernacular feature.

Interior includes 2 rooms on the 1st floor of the Old Rectory building (q.v.).
