Milestone. Probably late C19. Painted stone slab, c. 0.6 metre high, with
roughly-finished round top. ALSTON 9 MIDDLETON 13 painted in black capitals on
front. All other milestones on the B6277 are at 2-mile intervals at even
numbers; this most probably was a late addition to the sequence.
