II

Road bridge across 2 tracks of the former City of Durham branch of the Clarence
Railway. Circa 1833. Light-red brick in English garden wall bond and stone
bands. Identical and symmetrical, tripartite north and south faces. central
elliptical tunnel arch, in 4 rows of header bond, has stone impost bands and
keystone. Flanking battered piers and concave-plan side walls with square end
piers. Parapet, defined by band and chamfered coping, breaks forward over piers
and curves downwards over end sections.
