NZ 32 SW GREAT AYCLIFFE RICKNALL GRANGE

11/17 Ricknall Grange Farmhouse
and yard wall to rear

Farmhouse and yard wall, c.1840. House: sandstone plinth, narrow red brick in
Flemish bond with Welsh slate roof and brick stacks; dressed limestone wall.
2 storeys, 3 x 3 bays. Garden front has central blocked doorway with header-bond
archivolt; replaced 4-pane sashes with projecting sills and brick flat arches.
Low-pitched hipped roof has 2 ridge chimneys. Right return has replaced 6-panel
door in similar surround and identical fenestration. Wall, to rear of house,
flanks central yard entrance and is ramped to either end joining a single-storey
brick outbuilding to left and a similar stone outbuilding to right. C20 addition
to left return of house not of special interest.
