(Soho Cottages)


Pair of cottages. Circa 1840 for the Stockton and Darlington Railway Company,
restored 1975. Dressed masonry, renewed pantiled roof and grey brick chimneys.
Cottages attached to left return of the Hackworth Museum. Single storey, 7
irregular bays. Replaced 6-panel doors, with flush lintels, in bays 2 and 7.
5 replaced 12-pane sashes with tooled-and-margined lintels and projecting sills.
S.&.D.R. plaque (G,9) between bays 4 and 5. Low-pitched roof has central ridge
and end chimneys.
