War memorial. Circa 1919. Granite with marble statue. Square step to
rock-faced base of tapered pedestal, with plinth and cornice; swept base to
statue of Durham Light Infantry soldier in casual pose, with hands clasped
round barrel of rifle which rests on ground.

Inscription on plinth begins 'To the Glory of God ...' and commemorates the
men of Ferryhill who died in the Great War, 1914-1918, with names inscribed on
all other sides; additional inscription refers to second World War 1939-1945,
and additional names are inscribed. 'Pass not this stone in sorrow but in
pride/And may ye live as nobly as they died' inscribed on front plinth.
