A C17 timber-framed and plastered house with C18 features which adjoins
No 38 and breaks forward slightly, with its gable end to the street.
2 storeys and attics. 1 window range, double-hung sashes with glazing
bars. The upper storey originally was jettied on the front but was underbuilt
in theCl9 a now has a C20 shop front. Roof tiled, with a half hip to
the front gable. (RCHM 18).
Nos 38 to 42 (even). Church of St Mary Magdalen. No 46 and Nos 57 to 63
(odd) with Nos 1 to 13 (odd) Chapel Street form a group.
