Cheese House was originally the Cheese farm at Boreham House it is a C16 timber-framed
house with 2 gables on the south side. In 1938 Boreham House was purchased by
the Ford Foundation and the house was dismantled by Henry Ford with the intention
of shipping it to America, but he was prevented by local agitation and the house
was purchased and re-erected in its original form at its present site in Great
and Little Leighs. 2 storeys. Casement windows with lattice leaded lights.
Roof tiled. The interior has original moulded ceiling beams and joists. Fine
doors, and a C16 staircase. The exterior is much restored.
