A timber-framed and plastered house of C16 origin but much altered and partly
rebuilt. At the end there is a gabled cross wing jettied on the 1st storey.
The main block is 1 storey and attics and the cross wing is 2 storeys, Casement
windows. Roof tiled, with 1 gabled dormer to the main block. (RCHM 4 Little
Leighs).

The Church of St John the Evangelist, Church View, St Johns Cottage, Thatched Cottage and No 2 adjoining form a group.
