An C18 front with a parapet and cornice to an early C16 timber-framed and plastered house, with later alterations, the front is now pebble-dashed in panels. Two storeys. Three window range, double-hung sashes with glazing bars, in flush cased frames. The ground storey has a C20 shop. The south end, in the passageway leading to George Yard at the north end of No 35, has some exposed timber-framing (now painted). The ground storey has a C20 shop. Roof tiled behind the parapet. RCHM (39).

Nos 31, 33, 37, 39 form a group with No 40 on the east side.
