Mid C17 house, incorporating remnant of an earlier building, and altered extensively
in late C18. 2 storeys and attics. Roofs in red plain tile. Re-fronted in
late C18, grey gault brickwork with parapet wall. 3 window range double hung
sashes with glazing bars and side lights. 2 modern bay windows to ground floor,
and porch all with red plain tile roof. North west wing has fine pediment headed
doorcase with reveals. Original chimney stack with 4 octagonal shafts and moulded
caps. C19 extension at rear of red brick. Internally some original framing
is visible with jowled storey posts in the rear wing and fine moulded and stop
chamfered beams in front range. Good early C19 staircase with wreathed mahogany
handrail, and high quality late C18 fire surrounds. At least one original C17
reeded oak door remains. Good brick wall to street frontage. (RCHM 43).
