House, late C17, altered in early C19. Stuccoed brick and timber framing,
roofed with handmade red clay tiles. Aligned NE-SW, aspect NW. 2 parallel
ranges, with 2 axial chimney stacks symmetrically disposed in front range, 2
asymmetrical stacks in rear range. C19 service wing to SW also in the form
of 2 parallel ranges, with 2 internal chimney stacks. Symmetrical elevation.
2 storeys with attics. Central double doors in Tuscan porch at the head of 3
stone steps. 6 double-hung sash windows of 12 lights on ground floor, 7 on
first floor, all with shallow hoods on consoles. Giant pilasters of stucco
at each end of elevation, with ball finials. Parapet with recessed quatrefoiled
circles. 3 flat-roofed dormers in fully hipped roof. Central octagonal cupola
with ogival lead roof. SE (garden) elevation has 4 early C19 french windows
with marginal lights under full-length canopy with ogival wooden roof on cast
iron stanchions. First floor, 4 double-hung sash windows of 12 lights. Parapet
as on front elevation, which also extends round the sides. Some crown glass
in rear windows. Some C17 panelling. Early C19 folding shutters and other
internal features. Lead rainwater fittings.
