3/12 Rose Cottage

GV II


House, early C19; in Picturesque style. Red brick, stretcher bond, front
elevation mainly of fishscale red clay tiles, roofed with slate. Aligned
approx. N-S, aspect E, with rear wing from S end with end chimney stack. 2
storeys. Symmetrical elevation. Central slated gabled porch with fishscale
tile-hanging on sides, half-glazed door at front. One Gothick window each side,
with scalloped bargeboards. Plain casement window at half-floor level in middle
and above it, Gothick arched window with Y-tracery. 2 Gothick windows on first
floor. Most of the front elevation is tile-hung, but at each end there is a
short section of red brick, stretcher bond. Scalloped eaves, hipped roof of
shallow pitch.
