2/25 The Old Vicarage


Long-jetty house, C16, extended in C17, C18 and C19. Timber framed, plastered,
roofed mainly with handmade red clay tiles, some slate. 3 bays aligned
approximately E-W, aspect S, with external chimney stacks to rear of W bay and
at E gable. N extension from W bay, with hipped roof, C17. E extension from E
bay, C17. Parallel rear range, C18. N extension from E end, C19, forming a
half-H plan, and single-storey buildings in space to N, C19. 2 storeys with
attics. 4-panel door recessed in 2-storey porch. Group of 4 windows with
arched heads, C19, one splayed bay of double-hung sash windows of 4-16-4 lights,
C18, and one double-hung sash window of 16 lights, C18. Jetty visible on East
bay of original house, remainder inside. First floor, group of 2 windows with
arched heads, C19, 2 horizontally sliding sash windows of 12 lights, C19, one
C20 casement window. Plaster coving below eaves. Jowled posts below jetty and
of full height. Beams above ground floor mostly boxed in, but one exposed,
plain-chamfered, in entrance hall. Braces to tie beams boxed in. E tie beam of
original building severed for doorway. Clasped purlin roof.
