House, C16 and C17, altered in C20. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with
handmade red clay tiles. Hall range aligned approx. NE-SW, with 2-bay NE
crosswing with chimney stack in NE wall, and 3-bay SW crosswing with chimney
stack at junction with hall range. NW extension from NW crosswing with gambrel
roof, C17, and single-storey lean-to extension beyond, roofed with red clay
corrugated tiles. Single-storey extension to NE of NE crosswing, roofed with
red clay corrugated tiles. Flat roofed single-storey extension to SW of SW
crosswing, C20. 2 storeys. SE (garden) elevation, 2 storey splayed bay of C20
casement windows on SW crosswing, 2 other C20 casement windows on each floor.
Interior much altered. The SW crosswing has a plain-chamfered beam with lamb's
tongue plus bar stops. The NW extension has a beam with lamb's tongue stops.
Clasped purlin roofs. The roof of the hall range has been raised by approx. 1
metre in the C18, the earlier weathering still present on the chimney stack.
Some smoke-blackened medieval rafters have been re-used in this roof. RCHM 13.
