GV II

House, late C17, altered in C18 and C19. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with
handmade red clay tiles. 4 bays aligned approx. N-S, aspect W, with axial
chimney stack in second bay from S end. C18 stair tower to E of chimney stack.
C19 extension with catslide roof along E side, enclosing stair tower. 2 storeys
and cellar. 4-panel door with upper panels glazed, triglyph frieze, C18, with
one splayed bay of double-hung sash windows of 2-2-2 lights, and 3 double-hung
sash windows of 2,4 and 4 lights respectively, all late C19. First floor, 4
more, of 4,2,2 and 4 lights respectively. The interior has a plain-chamfered
transverse beam with lamb's tongue stops above the ground floor, a large wood-
burning hearth facing N, and to the S of it an C18 semi-circular recessed
cupboard. The walls have been raised approx. 1.70 metres in the C18 and the
roof rebuilt. Above the first floor there are plain-chamfered axial beams with
simple concave stops.
