Listing Text

3/1 Abbots Farmhouse


House, c.1600, altered in C19. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with handmade
red clay tiles and Welsh slate. L-plan, consisting of 2-bay range aligned
approx. E-W with tiled roof and axial chimney stack at E end, and 3-bay E
crosswing extending to N, with slate roof, and external chimney stack at N end.
Aspect S. Single-storey rear extension from W end with central chimney stack,
C19. Single-storey lean-to extension with corrugated iron roof between rear
wings. Small flat-roofed single-storey extension to E, C20. 2 storeys with
attic. 4-panel door in slated gabled porch with shaped bargeboards, late C19.
One C19 casement to each side, 3 on first floor, one on attic floor of E
crosswing. Pentice board on W gable. Ovolo-moulded beam with converging stops
to E of main chimney stack.
