4/20 Barn and stable block
20 metres W of Bramley
Cottage

Barn, C18, and stable block, C19. The barn is timber framed, weatherboarded
and roofed with corrugated asbestos; the stable block is of flint and red
bricks, roofed with corrugated asbestos. 6 bays aligned N-S, with midstrey
to E of third bay from S end. Stable block with hay-loft over to E of S bay,
C19. Open lean-to shelter with slate roof between midstrey and stable block,
C19. The walls of the stable block are divided into panels of flint rubble
by sections of red brickwork, 4 panels at each level of each long elevation.
Quoins, jambs and arches of windows and doors also of red brick. The interior
of the stables retains the original floor of herringbone brick, and iron
mangers. The barn is of pegged construction, with primary straight bracing,
straight tiebeams, hanging knees, clasped purlin roof. Unusually unaltered.
Included for Group Value with Bramley Cottage and Touchwood.
