House. C17 or earlier with later additions including C20 and alterations.
Mainly timber framed and plastered. Red plain tiled roofs. 7 red brick chimney
stacks. Mainly 2 storeys and attics. Of complex plan. From left to right
a gabled crosswing, a hipped roof range with 2 hipped dormers and moulded band
under eaves. 2 rear ranges and right forward crosswing with double gables.
These 2 gables and the right return gable with heavily carved bargeboards.
1:3:1 window range to first floor, 1:2:1 range to ground floor of 2 or 3 light
casements with transoms. Central door to hipped roof range of 2 panels with
4 lights. Open gabled red tiled porch with bargeboads. 4 panel door with 2
lights to right range. Attached to right are 3 ranges of red tiled
outbuildings. Single storeyed with some lofts. The centre range has a forward
gabled crosswing with double doors and boarded door with loft door over. Said
to contain C17 panelling, a carved oak chimney piece, old doors and moulded
ceiling beams. RCHM 6.
