TL 73 SE GOSFIELD HALSTEAD ROAD
5/172 Gosfield School. Stable
block to left of House

GV II

Stable block. Early to Mid C19. Yellow Suffolk brick. Grey slate roofs
hipped to right with eaves band. L-plan. Two storeys. 6 window range to first
floor of vertically sliding sashes with stone lintels. Vertically boarded loft
door to right with moulded bargeboards and finial to gable over. Four recessed
arches with keystones and top lights. Central arched doorway with similar top
light and vertically boarded door. Mounting steps to right recessed arch.
Above the gable is a cupola with lead pyramidal roof surmounted by a
weathervane. The forward left range is single storeyed of similar materials with
three windows and two vertically boarded doors. Interior on edge brick
herringbone floor. Original wooden stalls with iron rails and mangers.
