TL 72 NE GOSFIELD THE STREET (EAST SIDE)

forecourt railings

GV II

House. Early to Mid C19. Red brick. Grey slate roof. Three red brick chimney
stacks and external right chimney stack. Four window range of small paned
vertically sliding sashes with gauged brick arches. The enclosed porch has
Gothic sidelights with moulded labels, a 2 panelled door with glazed margins to
top light and name fascia over. Extending forward two bays is a fine flat
roofed iron canopy. Fluted support columns with moulded capitals and bases.
Trefoiled arches with trellis infill. The attached curvelinear trellised
railings on gault brick plinths with finials. Urn heads to moulded posts. The
double matching carriageway gates with trelliswork posts and mouldings to ball
finials. Solid posts with similar mouldings and finials to porch gateway with
smaller double gates. The canopy and railings are a notable feature in the
village.
