House. C15 and c.1600. Timber framed, plastered with exposed framing at front,
the front pitch of the main roof clad with interlocking concrete tiles, other
pitches with handmade red clay tiles. 3-bay main range facing W, with central
chimney stack, forming a lobby-entrance, and C18 external stack at right end.
At left end, 2-bay crosswing, C15, with C16 stack on left wall, and lean-to
extension beyond, forming a catslide roof. 2-bay extension to rear of
crosswing, c.1600, with C20 flat-roofed single-storey extension in left rear
angle and lean-to extension in right rear angle. 2 storeys. Main range, 2-
window range of late C18 sashes of 16 lights, and central 6-panel door.
Crosswing has jetty with exposed joists, C20 casement on ground floor, late
C18 sash of 16 lights on first floor. The interior has plain joists of
horizontal section, plastered to the soffits in the right bay of the main range.
The left bay of the main range has a chamfered axial beam with lamb's tongue
stops. First floor and roofs not inspected, April 1984. The attached C19 farm
building to the SW, converted to residential use, is of less historical
interest. RCHM 5.
