Cottage. Late C17, extended in C18/early C19. Timber framed, plastered with
some exposed framing, roof thatched. 3 bays facing SE, with chimney stack in
right bay. Rear extension, C18/early C19, forming a T-plan. One storey and
attics. 3 C20 casements with diamond leading, and one more in slated gabled
dormer. C20 door in gabled porch. The interior has a floor of heavy joists
of horizontal section laid laterally on pegged clamps. Some of the pegs have
been replaced by C20 bolts in the same holes. Large wood-burning hearth of
C16 bricks, reduced in width for coal and partly rebricked in C19/C20. A carved
plaque 'ANNO 1647' mounted over the front door is genuine but of doubtful
provenance.
