Water Lane is wrongly shown on the O.S. map as Brook Street. Cottage. C17.
Timber framed, plastered, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 2 bays facing S,
with internal chimney stack against rear wall, and single-storey flat-roofed
extension to rear, C20. One storey with attics. 2 C20 casement windows and C20
door. On each gable end one rafter couple and a high collar is exposed, with
the ends of the wallplates and clasped purlins. The interior has a large wood-
burning hearth reduced for a C20 grate, joists of vertical section arranged
longitudinally in the right bay, and in the left bay an axial beam with joists
of horizontal section supported on pegged clamps.
