GV II*

House. Circa 1530 or earlier origin with C16 and later wing and stair turret
and later additions and alterations. Timber framed and plastered front with
rusticated quoins, rear wings of similar plasterwork to 4 left gables. Red
brick chimney stack and red brick 2 right gables and extensions. Red plain
tiled roofs. The front face has gabled crosswings to right and left. Large red
brick chimney stacks with attached diagonal shafts to left, rear centre and
right. Plastered shaft to right. To the right is a red tiled single storey
extension. 2 storeys and attics to crosswings and some rear gables. 2 visible
storeys to central front range. 1:3:1 window range of vari-light square leaded
windows some with C16/C17 mullions and transoms. That to ground floor right a
red tiled bay. C20 central gabled rusticated porch with leaded lights.
Vertically panelled door. Of complex plan with 6 rear gables. Those to right
of C16 brick. Interior features said to include large chamfered brick fireplace
to central hall. C16 and C17 windows. Stop chamfered beams to hall ceiling,
wall posts with moulded corbels. Several original C16 doors and doorways.
Original staircase with central newal. C16 panelling. Several brick fireplaces
one with an enclosed space at rear. Much exposed framing to ceilings. RCHM 2.
