House. Mid-C16, altered in C20. Timber framed, plastered, roof thatched. 4
bays facing SE. Stack in second bay from left, against rear wall, late C16.
Staircase extension in front of stack, c.1936, with hipped roof. 2 storeys. 3
C20 casements on ground floor, 4 on first floor. C20 door and gabled porch.
The interior has jowled posts, heavy studding with curved tension braces
trenched to the inside, transverse and axial chamfered beams with step stops,
heavy plain joists of horizontal section. The stack, although of small bricks
and built in the second half of the C16, is an insertion in a short bay probably
designed originally for a timber framed chimney. The mantel beams are chamfered
with lamb's tongue stops.
