east from Spains Hall
to garden pavilion

GV II

Garden wall. Late C16/early C17, altered in C18/C19. Red brick in random bond.
Extends NE from the E corner of Spains Hall, turns SE and NE again, and joins
the garden pavilion approx. 70 metres NE of the house. Height approx. 2 metres,
raised to approx. 3 metres in C18. Dogtooth course at top (incomplete) and
moulded V-coping. Near the SW end of the main length is a blocked original
doorway with chamfered jambs and 4-centred arched head. Near the NE end is a
doorway with 2-centred arched head. Between them a 3-metre length has been
rebuilt in the C19 with a doorway with segmental arch. Several lean-to sheds on
the NW side.
