House. C17, altered in C18 and C19. Timber framed, plastered with facade of
painted red brick in Flemish bond, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 4 bays
facing S, with internal stack against rear wall in second bay from left end.
Single-storey extension to right, with end stack, C19. Single-storey lean-to
extension to left, C18/C19. 2 storeys and attics. On ground floor, 3 C20
sashes, and one early C19 sash of 9 lights. On first floor, 4 early C19 sashes
of 9 lights. C20 door. The interior has jowled posts, primary straight
bracing, axial beams with lamb's tongue stops, plain joists, clasped purlin
roof. A large wood-burning hearth facing to right has original salt recess and
bread oven, with modern replacement door. The C20 door is in the original
position, forming a lobby-entrance with original newel stair S of the stack,
ascending from ground to attics. Upper part of stack (approx. from attic floor
level) rebuilt.
