House, now 2 cottages. C16, altered in C18 and C19. Timber framed, mainly
weatherboarded with some plaster, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 3 bays
facing SE with axial stack at right end. One-bay extension to right, with extra
hearth back to back with the first, forming a lobby-entrance house, late C17.
C18/19 single-storey extension to rear of this bay, with catslide roof and
internal stack. C18/19 internal stack against rear wall of left bay, and C18/19
single-storey extension beyond, with C18/19 internal stack. C19 extension to
right of it, with catslide roof. 2 storeys. Ground floor, one late C19 sash of
16 lights and 3 C19 casements. First floor, 3 C19 casements. 2 C19 4-panel
doors. Hipped gablet at left end of roof. Jowled posts, cambered tiebeams,
close studding. In left bay, chamfered axial beams with lamb's tongue stops and
plain joists of horizontal section. In middle bays, chamfered transverse beam
with lamb's tongue stops, and plain square joists arranged longitudinally.
Rebated floorboards. 2 large wood-burning hearths, reduced for stove and C20
grate. Roof inaccessible. C18 chevron pargetting in panels, enclosed by rear
extension. RCHM 13.
