House. C.1600, altered in C18 and C20. Partly timber framed and clad with
gault brick, partly of painted brick, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 4
bays facing NE, with axial stack in second bay from left end, forming a
lobby-entrance. C18 wing behind right end, C20 extensions to left and right,
the latter of one storey with a flat roof. 2 storeys. Ground floor, 5 late C18
sashes of 12 lights, including one adjacent pair, with flat brick arches, and 3
C20 sashes. First floor, 5 late C18 sashes of 12 lights and 2 C20 sashes.
Half-glazed door in C20 gabled porch. Walls raised approx. one metre. Some
framing exposed internally, close studding with curved tension braces trenched
to the inside. Chamfered axial beam with lamb's tongue stops. Face-halved and
bladed scarfs in wallplate. 2 large wood-burning hearths, blocked. RCHM 22.
