GV II

Cottage. Late C16, altered in C17 and C20. Timber framed, plastered with
exposed imitation framing, roof thatched. 2 bays facing SW with internal stack
at left end, extended to left by one bay in C17. C20 stack against rear wall of
left bay, and C20 lean-to extension to rear of it, roofed with corrugated
asbestos. Partly demolished C20 external stack at right end. One storey with
attics. Ground floor, 3 C20 casements. C20 sash in gabled dormer. C19 flush
4-panel door in C20 lean-to porch. Roof half-hipped at right end only. The
interior of the original part has jowled posts, exposed studding with arched
braces at the corners, a chamfered axial beam with step stops and plain joists
of horizontal section, and a clasped purlin roof with arched wind-bracing. The
left bay has unjowled posts, and plain joists of vertical section. RCHM 24.
