9/126 Great Loyes Farmhouse

GV II

House. C17 or earlier origin, altered in C18. Timber framed, plastered, roofed
with handmade red clay tiles. Parallel ranges forming a double-pile plan facing
SW, with internal stacks symmetrically arranged. The rear range is C17 or
earlier, the front range C18. 2 storeys. 3-window range of C20 sashes.
6-panel door at front of C20 flat-roofed porch. Roof fully hipped. Moated
site. Smoke-blackened rafters in the barn 70 metres to the S may have come from
a medieval hall house on the present site.
