House. Early C19, extended in early C19. Gault brick, roofed with slate.
Double pile plan facing SW, with 2 internal stacks symmetrically arranged.
Early C19 extension to left of main range, set back from main elevation, with
one external stack to left and one rear stack. Service range to rear of right
end. Conservatory to right of main range. 2 storeys. Ground floor, 4 early C19
sashes of 12 lights and one of 8 lights, all with flat heads of gauged brick,
recessed under round arches of gauged brick. First floor, 4 early C19 sashes of
3 + 6 lights, with external louvred shutters, and one C20 sash of 2 lights.
6-panel door with fanlight and radial tracery, recessed under round arch of
gauged brick, centrally placed in original block. Plaster band below sills of
first-floor windows. Both roofs of shallow pitch, hipped. Built for William
Goodday, rector of the parish 1801-48 and extended for him, to a compatible
design. Memorials to him and to members of his family are in the parish
church.
