Cartlodge. C.1800. Partly of red brick in English bond, partly timber framed
and weatherboarded, roofed with slate. 7 bays open to the SW, approx. 9 metres
in span. Brick walls to left and rear (with 6 concrete buttresses to rear),
timber framed to right. Low-pitched roof. King-post roof trusses of imported
softwood, with pegged joints, bolted at base of king-post. Bolted knees to open
front. A building of exceptional span in substantially original condition.
