4/14 Panfield Farmhouse

GV II

House. Early C19. Mainly gault brick in Flemish bond, rear of red brick in
Flemish bond, roofed with slate. Double pile plan facing N, with 2 internal
stacks symmetrically arranged. C19 lean-to extension to right. 2 storeys.
Ground floor, 2 original sashes of 16 lights with flat brick arches. First
floor, 2 similar sashes, and one of 12 lights over door. Some crown glass.
Central 6-panel door with top panels glazed, in C20 pedimented porch with simple
columns. Plain giant pilasters at corners, and central section set slightly
forward.In left return wall, inscriptions 'M.B. 1844', 'J.B. 1844' and 'Dr.
B'. Rear elevation similar, but in red brick, window arches segmental, and
similar door with flat canopy on profiled brackets. Original stair with
scrolled tread ends, wreathed rosewood handrail and stick balusters.
