House, now divided into 2. C16 or earlier, altered in C17 and C20. Timber
framed, roughcast rendered, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 3-bay
crosswing of former hall house, C16 or earlier, and 3-bay main range to left,
early C17, facing NE. C20 internal stack at junction, and C17/C18 axial stack
in main range. 2 single-storey extensions to rear. 2 storeys. Ground floor, 4
C20 casements. First floor, 4 C20 casements and one oval fixed light. The
main stack has recessed panels in each face. Original sprockets below eaves of
right return wall and rear of main range. Jowled posts. The rear bay of the
crosswing was originally partitioned from the remainder; partition removed on
ground floor, some studding remaining on first floor. Cambered tiebeam with 2
arched braces, inserted ceiling with no access to roof. The main range has
chamfered transverse beams with jewel stops. RCHM 37.
