House. C.1600, altered in C19 and C20. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with
handmade red clay tiles. 4 bays facing SW, with internal stack in second bay
from left end against rear wall. Extended to left by one bay in C18/C19, with
C19 and C20 extensions to rear of it. One storey with attics. 3 horizontally
sliding sashes of 24 lights on ground floor, and 2 of 18 lights in gabled
dormers, all C20 accurate reproductions of C19 originals. C20 door. Original
sprockets below eaves at front and back. The interior has jowled posts, curved
tension braces trenched inside studs, chamfered axial beams with lamb's tongue
stops, plain joists of horizontal section, original floorboards. All floors
raised in 1983. Face-halved and bladed scarfs in wallplates, clasped purlin
roof. Large wood-burning hearth facing to right.
