Cottage, extended to form 2 cottages, now combined. C.1590, altered in C18.
2 bays facing SE with external stack at left end, now enclosed by C18 extension.
C18 stack and extension at right end, forming 4 bays in all, formerly 2 cottages
each with a central stack. One storey and attics. 4 C20 casements, and 2 more
in gabled dormers. Plain boarded door in gabled porch, C20. The original
building has jowled posts, close studding with curved braces trenched to the
inside, unstopped chamfered axial beams, plain joists of horizontal section
supported on original pegged clamps, and a clasped purlin roof with arched wind
bracing. The left end of it is of interrupted tiebeam construction with a
chamfered girt with lamb's tongue stops, and blocked unglazed windows on both
storeys. 2 large wood-burning hearths, reduced for C20 grates. One moulded
door, probably original, and other plain ledged doors. Some original
