GV II

House, now a restaurant with dwelling accommodation over. C16, altered in early
C19 and C20. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with slate. 4 bays aligned
NW-SW, facing NE with axial stack near middle and C20 stack at rear end. The
front 2 bays have been increased from 2 to 3 storeys in the early C19. The rear
2 bays, originally of 2 storeys, have had the floor removed. Ground floor, 2
C20 splayed bays. First and second floors, 2 early C19 sashes of 16 lights with
C20 louvred shutters. Central 6-panel door, the top 2 panels glazed.
Continuous canopy over both bays and door. Pyramidal roof of shallow pitch on
front block. 2 grouped diagonal shafts on main stack. The interior is much
altered. The internal stack is of C16 brickwork, sanded to a smooth finish
where exposed. Most of the front block is plastered internally, with an early
C19 stair to the second floor. In the rear bays the framing is exposed
internally, with much replaced framing. On the ground floor in the right wall
there is an original unglazed window, complete with 3 diamond mullions.
