House. C16 or earlier, altered in C19. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with
handmade red clay tiles. 4 bays facing SE, with axial stack. C19 lean-to
extension to rear of left end, 2-storey extension to rear of right end. One
storey with attics. 2 mid-C19 sashes of 6 lights and one C19 casement of 4
lights, 2 C19 horizontally sliding sashes of 4 lights in gabled dormers. C19
4-panel door with shallow hood on profiled brackets. 2 diagonal shafts, and
third square shaft, grouped. Jowled posts, heavy studding with curved tension
braces trenched to the outside. Large wood-burning hearth facing to right, C20
grate to left. To left of stack, chamfered transverse beam with lamb's tongue
stops, joists plastered to soffits. To right of stack, similar beam on posts
with moulded jowls, and plain joists of horizontal section supported on pegged
clamps. In right bay, longitudinal plain joists of horizontal section supported
on pegged clamps, and blocked inserted window with ovolo mullion, early C17.
