Barn approx. 50 metres south of Valley Farmhouse

Barn. C18. Timber framed, weatherboarded and plastered on high plinth of red
brick in Flemish bond, roofed with corrugated asbestos. 5 bays aligned approx.
NE-SW with midstrey to SE. C19 brick and slate lean-to extension in E angle.
Roof half-hipped at both ends and on midstrey. Hardwood frame, jointed and
pegged. Face-halved and bladed scarfs in wallplates. Roof originally without
tiebeams, with bolted knees bracing wallposts to principal rafters, and clasped
purlins, reinforced later by inserted tiebeams.
