Granary, now office and garage. Early C16. Timber framed, weatherboarded and
plastered, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 2 bays aligned NW-SE, facing
SE. Front wall sharply angled to align with road. Formerly extended further to
the rear, now has a single-storey rear lean-to extension roofed with corrugatd
clay tiles over corrugated iron. 2 storeys. One C20 casement on first floor.
Garage doors. Posts jowled at half-height and at tops. Heavy close studding
with curved tension braces trenched to the outside. Chamfered binding and
bridging beams, plain joists of horizontal section jointed to them with soffit
tenons with diminished haunches, some joists renewed. Unglazed windows at both
levels with some diamond mullions present, and grooves for sliding shutters.
Blocked original doorway with straight head in right return wall near front
corner. Crownpost roof with axial braces. RCHM 40.
