House. Mid C16. Timber framed and plastered with timber frame partially
exposed on front elevation. Of 2 storeys and 'L' plan form with gabled peg tile
roofs. The main range is long wall jettied and has a large off-centre ridge
line stack with 6 octagonal shafts. Front has C20 metal casements with very
large panes and a C20 gabled peg tile roofed porch with imitation framing.
Slate roofed lean-to on rear. Internally the frame is exposed with chamfered
bridging joists and joists at north end. Hall bay has bridging joists with ogee
and hollow mouldings. At south end there is an additional bay and northernmost
bay was former service end. The major stack has 2 arch headed brick fireplaces
on the first floor, one with original plaster coating. Scarf joints are halved
and bridled and roof is a rebuild of c.1800 with king posts and 'V' struts.
