GREAT HENNY Grove Farwhouse

Farmhouse. C16, C17 and early C19. Part timber framed and plastered and part
painted brick with peg tile roofs. Of complex plan form with a square 2
storey early C19 block at the north end with a hipped 'U' plan, hipped peg tile
roof ending with a half hip on its south west corner. South of this is a long 2
storey C17 range with a gabled roof and a large ridge line stack. Behind this is
a short parallel block with a gable to the west also of 2 storeys. Continuing
this are 2 single storey brick outbuildings with peg tile roofs. The main east
front of the early C19 block has a wide eaves overhang and a 3 window range of
double hung sash windows with small panes and central projecting porch with tnin
Doric columns and original 6 panel door within moulded architrave surround.
Part of the centre of the long range is a 2 storey C16 floored structure of
heavy timber framing which is exposed inside. Walled garden linked to west
side, its north wall being of 'crinkle crankle' form.
