TL 8430-8530 COLNE ENGAINE THE GREEN

7/15 Burches Farmhouse

GV II

House. Circa 1580, altered in C19 and early C20. Timber framed, plastered,
roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 4-bay long-jetty house facing S, with
axial stack right of centre and C19 external stack at left end. C19 rear wing
of red brick with end stack. 2 storeys. Ground floor, 2 late C19 sashes of 6
lights and one early C20 square bay of casements. First floor, 2 similar sashes
and one early C20 casement. C19 4-panel door with shallow fretted canopy.
Plaster coving below eaves. Underbuilt jetty. Jowled posts, close studding.
Chamfered axial beams unstopped, chamfered transverse beam with lamb's tongue
stops, chamfered joists of horizontal section with lamb's tongue stops in
'hall', plain joists of horizontal section in right bay. Axial beam boxed in
left bay. Roof not inspected.
