House. C16, altered in C19 and C20. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with
handmade red clay tiles. 3 bays facing S (2 long bays, and short bay to right),
C18/19 stack to rear of middle bay, and C19 2-storey extension of red brick
beyond. C20 2-storey flat-roofed extension to left of it, and single-storey
extension roofed with concrete tiles to left. C20 single-storey extension
roofed with corrugated tiles to right of rear wing. 2 storeys. 2-window range
of early C19 sashes of 16 lights. C20 glazed door and open pediment. On first
floor of right return, one similar sash. Serpentine tension braces trenched
inside studs, partly exposed internally. Plain doorhead in studded partition
between middle and right bays. Studded partition between middle and left bays
removed on ground floor. Chamfered axial beam with lamb's tongue stops in
middle bay, joists supported on pegged clamps. Walls raised above original low
wallplates. Deeds from the C18 in the possession of the owner (manor of Colne
Priory).
